Diageo USVI - Learning for Life Program

Do you have an interest in the service industry? Would you like to receive training to help you obtain entry-level skills in bartending? 

This 5-week program will provide you with the tools, training, and skills needed to start a career in the hospitality industry. You'll receive a combination of technical and practical skills in areas such as job readiness, personal finances, responsible drinking, and service. The program is FREE to eligible participants and is underwritten by Diageo USVI.

Note: Classes will be conducted in person and will adhere to COVID-19 social distancing standards.

Location: UVI CELL St. Croix and St. Thomas

  • Customer Service Skills 
  • Job Readiness Skills 
  • Bartending Basics 
  • Life Skills 
  • Bartending Competitions  

Qualifying Criteria

  • Must be 18 - 35 years old 
  • Must be a resident of the U.S. Virgin Islands 
  • Must have NO experience or skills in bartending 
  • Must be motivated with a serious interest in bartending
  • Successful completion of an application and interview 
  • Must be able to attend day sessions (9:00 am - 1:00 pm)  
  • Attend mandatory sessions: Information session and Orientation

Registration Information

1.  Obtain application: 

  • Download the fillable application, save to your computer, and email it to cell@uvi.edu.
  • Download the application, print it out, and drop off or mail. 
  • Applications can also be picked up from UVI CELL (STT & STX), Bellows International (STT & STX), and Diageo USVI (STX). 

2.  Submit Application: 

  • By email to cell@uvi.edu. 
  • Dropped off at either UVI CELL location 
  • Fax to: (340) 693-1115
  • Mail -- applications must be postmarked NO LATER than August 31, 2020.
