CELL COVID-19 Policy

In light of the evolving coronavirus pandemic in the US and globally, the University of the Virgin Islands has been putting measures in place to ensure the safety of its faculty, staff, students and the wider community.  Out of an abundance of caution, especially for those who may be in high-risk groups, UVI-CELL has developed plans to mitigate the spread of the disease.

Effective immediately, all UVI-CELL in-person classes will be temporarily suspended.   For classes that are applicable, UVI-CELL will transition to an online learning platform.   For courses that do not meet the requirements to be held online, registered students will be contacted and provided the following options:

  • Switch course delivery from an in-person classroom setting to a virtual setting.  This requires individuals to have access to a desktop computer, laptop or tablet, and the internet.  Students will be emailed an invitation with a link to join a class using Zoom.  Zoom is a remote conferencing service that allows individuals to meet real-time time online, with a live instructor.
  • Postpone class to a future date once the situation is resolved and business returns to normal.
  • Receive credit for the class, which can be used to participate in any of our online offerings or a future in-person course.  UVI-CELL currently has over 500 self-paced courses that can be completed entirely online.   This credit will be good for 6 months, expiring on September 30, 2020.

If you have any questions or concerns about this or any other courses offered by UVI CELL, please do not hesitate to call our office at 340-693-1100 or send an email to cell@uvi.edu.
